Bongo Bongo is a great vacation home completed in 2006 and designed for traveling couples or small families that are looking for the amenities often found only in larger homes. Bongo Bongo is also close to town, easy to reach and handsomely decorated and furnished. And above all, Bongo Bongo is designed to be a fun place to spend your down time on St. John. Bongo Bongo is nestled into a lush hillside overlooking St. John's South Shore in conveniently located Chocolate Hole North, less than a minute from the Westin Resort, less than five minutes from Starfish Market, and both the passenger ferry dock downtown and the car barge dock at Enighed Pond.

It's also just a short and easy drive, on paved roads all the way, to the fine dining and shopping in Cruz Bay.

Deposits: 50% of ental $35 Sec. Dep. & $35 Non Ref Reserva
Payment Policies: Our Villas are rented on a weekly basis (seven nights) and for fewer nights, pro-rated during the off-season. To secure your reservation, payment in the amount of 50% of total rental is required along with a non-refundable $35 reservation and $35 security deposit (total of $70). Payments by credit card are subject to a 5% fee. The balance including 10% VI Hotel Tax is due 60 days prior to arrival


Cancellations: Cancellation: No deposits will be refunded unless a replacement rental is obtained. Should you be forced to cancel for any reason and a replacement rental is obtained, your deposit will be refunded less a 20% administrative fee based on the total rental amount and an additional 10% if canceled within 90 days of arrival date. Because of our strict cancellation policy, we urge you to obtain Traveler's Cancellation Insurance.


Arrival/Departure: ARRIVAL ON ST. THOMAS

We can arrange PRIVATE TAXI SERVICE from the St. Thomas Airport to the Red Hook or Downtown Charlotte Amalie ferries. The cost is $90 for 1 – 4 people and $15.00 for each additional person, including luggage for 5 or more people . The driver will meet you in the terminal and will take you DIRECTLY to the next ferry. The driver will also call us, to let us know which ferry to meet, saving you from trying to make phone calls on the run. USING THE REGULAR TAXI SERVICE: After you have collected your luggage, look for the taxi stand just outside the baggage claim area. ASK TO BE PUT IN A TAXI WITH OTHER PEOPLE HEADED FOR ST. JOHN . JUST BEFORE YOU ARE READY TO LEAVE THE AIRPORT, CALL US AT 779-4070. IF YOUR LUGGAGE DOESN'T ARRIVE: Determine when the next flight will be. If it is a short period of time, you might want to wait for it. Otherwise, file a lost luggage claim, leaving the phone number at your rental villa, or our number (779-4070) as your contact. (Lost bags will usually be delivered to the Paris Rental Car office on St. John by the next day). Then secure a taxi, as above, and CALL US.

ARRIVAL ON ST. JOHN AND GREETING: One of our staff will be at the dock to greet you, with a CAREFREE GET-AWAYS sign. We offer one complimentary arrival greeting, per rental. Your greeter will meet the initial arriving guests at the St. John Dock, take them to their rental car and escort them to the rental villa for an orientation.. Additional greetings for later arrivals can be arranged at $50.00 per arrival, pre-paid. Check in time is 3PM. Earlier luggage drop off at the villa can be arranged for early arrivals.

DEPARTURE: Check out time is 10AM. This is to enable maids to clean and prepare for in-coming guests (often that very afternoon!). Please follow check out procedure for the individual villa. If you have a late flight out of St. Thomas CHECK WITH US ABOUT STAYING LATER IN YOUR VILLA. You must take a ferry that leaves at least TWO AND A HALF HOURS BEFORE YOUR PLANE IS SCHEDULED TO DEPART. Carefree does not offer departure service. If you need assistance with transporting luggage to the St. John Dock, a taxi can be obtained.

FERRIES FROM CRUZ BAY TO RED HOOK: Leave ON THE HOUR from 6AM. 20 minute ferry ride plus at least 30 minute taxi ride to airport (count on 1 HOUR)

FERRIES FROM CRUZ BAY TO "DOWNTOWN" (Waterfront Charlotte Amalie, STT): Leaves 8:45AM, 11:15AM, & 3:45PM, 45 minute ferry ride (be wary if you are prone to sea-sickness) plus 10 minute taxi ride to airport (approximately 1 HOUR).

It is perfect for one couple, but can comfortably accommodate up to four guests in its two, air-conditioned and very comfortable master suites. Bongo Bongo was designed for St. John living as we believe it should be lived, with the seamless melding of indoor and outdoor spaces. Its main kitchen/living/dining area open up onto a massive patio that spans the length of the house. It has a huge pool with a cool water feature and a black granite bottom so it is always the perfect temperature. We’ve spent many a lazy afternoon lounging in and around the pool with a cocktail in hand, gazing at the views of Chocolate Hole with St. Thomas in the distance. Sunsets here are exquisite. For those who love to cook, like we do, the kitchen is extremely well equipped. There is virtually nothing you might want that isn’t already here. Clearly a lot of thought, love and care has gone into the selection of artwork, furniture, appliances, fixtures—even the paint colors—at Bongo Bongo as it runs circles around the other villas we’ve stayed in. --This was our second visit to Bongo Bongo, and was every bit as enjoyable as the first. It was brand new when we were first there 5-6 years ago, but it shows surprisingly little wear in the interim. We loved the open air feeling that pervades the villa, especially the indoor planting adjacent to the covered dining area. The view of Chocolate Hole, and St. Thomas is exquisite, particularly the sunsets on clear evenings. Other very positive features are the proximity to Cruz Bay, and the Hot Tub which we used every afternoon upon our return from island adventures. We found that because of the Western exposure, the afternoon sun can be very bright and hot, so we tended to plan our day so as to return to the villa late in the afternoon. There is a gentle, cool breeze every evening, and we never needed the AC. We loved our visit, and will return in a couple of years. Bruce--

--We absolutely LOVED Bongo Bongo! It was just perfect! The house is beautiful and the deck and pool are spectacular. We loved realizing by the pool as the sun set after a day at the beach. The kitchen was wonderful- my husband is a chef and he loved cooking in the kitchen. I truly think that the owners thought of everything when they built this villa. And Carefree Getaways was so easy to work with! You answered all of my questions so quickly and helped arrange our Jeep rental. --Thank you to the owners of Bongo Bongo and the Carefree Getaways Crew! Bongo Bongo is the absolute BEST house we have stayed in on St. John so far (and we have been visiting for 7 years). It is perfection for 2 couples. The layout is brilliant, the views are incredible, the pool and pool deck are stunning, the décor is upscale and cool, and the place is in top notch condition. We absolutely LOVED hanging out on the patio watching the sun go down over St. Thomas. The chairs and couches were so comfortable and the layout was very convenient- just steps from the kitchen. At night, we enjoyed the hot tub while overlooking the twinkling lights of St. John and St. Thomas. When we left, getting to and from the house was a snap- a very convenient location close to town, and also easy to get to all the north shore beaches. It’s about a 3 min or less drive to the Westin. We were there in February and the temperature was perfect- we barely needed the AC in the bedrooms, but when we did turn it on, wow- it made the bedrooms icy in no time! We never even thought about needing AC anywhere else- the breezes and fans were plenty. Our only complaint about Bongo Bongo is that it doesn’t have 4 bedrooms so that we can bring more friends. Come on guys, build us a few more great bedrooms with all the fantastic art on the walls! We could have stayed at Bongo Bongo for months (I wish!). It really feels like a home, and definitely has all the comforts of home, only with that incredible view. I have talked to other friends that have stayed at Bongo Bongo and they all agree with me- it is one of the best houses on St. John. See for yourself! Laura Franks--
